The Liberal Democratic Party has set up a new working team to promote economic growth, considering that the industry has a deep-rooted cautious opinion about "carbon pricing," which requires companies to bear the cost according to the amount of carbon dioxide emitted. It was decided to consider the ideal system for achieving both.

Regarding "carbon pricing," the government has introduced a "carbon tax," which imposes a tax according to carbon dioxide emissions, and a system for buying and selling emissions between companies, with the aim of realizing a carbon-free society by 2050. We are considering the introduction.

Under these circumstances, the Liberal Democratic Party has decided to set up a new working team within this month under the chairman of the Political Survey, Shimomura, to proceed with consideration for the full-scale introduction of the system.

The work team discusses specific system design, such as the tax rate when the "carbon tax" is introduced, and also considers that the industry has a deep-rooted cautious opinion about the introduction, and for companies that are making advanced efforts. We are considering the ideal system that can be compatible with economic growth, including preferential treatment.

The working team hopes to proceed with discussions by studying overseas cases and conducting interviews with related parties, and to compile recommendations to the government by the end of the year.
