A 52-year-old worker was found dead Thursday afternoon in Décines-Charpieu, near Lyon (Rhône), after falling into the funnel of a concrete plant.

His body was buried under "several tons" of gravel, we learned from the firefighters.

The accident, the circumstances of which remain to be determined, occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on the site of the Béton Lyonnais company, which immediately called for help.

"The victim was declared dead on the spot by the SMUR doctor after his release which was difficult", specifies the company.

The firefighters had to call in specialized units in

"Rescue clearance" to remove the body of the worker.
