A man was tried Thursday before the Brest criminal court for causing the death of his passenger, reports

The facts took place on June 27, 2017. That day, the individual, yet under a license suspension for drunk driving, had borrowed his mother's car for a trip to the city. .

After consuming a lot of alcohol, he continued the evening with a woman he had met shortly before.

A mad race in the streets of Brest ensued, the driver driving at full speed and running through several red lights.

He had finally run into another parked vehicle before hitting the wall of a building.

Despite attempts at resuscitation, his passenger, unconscious, died of a head trauma.

The 38-year-old mother of six children was 14 weeks pregnant during the tragedy.

The court sentenced the driver to three years in prison.
