Dresden (dpa / sn) - The state of Saxony is resuming vaccinations with the Astrazeneca vaccine.

After the suspension this week, the German Red Cross is in the process of ramping up capacities “as quickly as possible”, Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) announced on Friday.

Appointments from March 20, which were canceled as a precautionary measure after the vaccination freeze, could now be kept as planned in the vaccination centers.

All people who had appointments up to and including March 19 should receive a new appointment offer in writing within the next week.

This replacement proposal could not be changed.

Anyone who cannot attend it will be asked to cancel and to book a new appointment via the portal or the hotline.

The ministry said that the 39 practices that are taking part in the model project for vaccination at the family doctor can now use Astrazeneca again.

In the Corona hotspot Vogtland, around 110 resident doctors will be supplied with the vaccine from Monday.

The vaccinations with the Astrazeneca vaccine were temporarily stopped on Monday after the occurrence of blood clots in connection with vaccinations.

After a review by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the green light has now been given again.

The EMA rated Astrazeneca as effective and safe.

In the future, those willing to vaccinate will be informed differently about the possible risks and the latest findings.
