Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In the course of coming to terms with sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, a specially set up commission of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese is currently following up ten clues.

Church employees and lay people are among the accused, as a spokeswoman announced on Friday in Stuttgart.

A note is current.

The others relate to the period between the 1960s and 1980s.

So far, payments of over 760,000 euros have been made to the victims.

143 applications had been made.

The amount of the additional therapy costs assumed amounts to around 170,000 euros.

First the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" reported on the subject.

The diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart is one of the four largest dioceses in Germany with almost 1.8 million members.

Between 1947 and the beginning of March this year, 168 suspects were found who are alleged to have been involved in the sexual abuse.

Among them are 97 priests, deacons and male religious.

"A total of 19 priests still live in our diocese who have become perpetrators."
