Berlin (dpa / bb) - After the employees in daycare centers and special needs schools, other teachers in Berlin can now be vaccinated against Corona.

As of now, around 38,000 teachers and other employees at elementary and community schools will receive a corresponding invitation, as the Senator for Education Sandra Scheeres (SPD) announced on Friday.

The persons concerned receive personalized vaccination codes with which they can book an appointment at a vaccination center of their choice.

With it, they can also choose the vaccine.

If you add the service staff at the 63 special educational support centers and the daycare workers, according to the education administration, more than 90,000 people from the education sector can now be vaccinated.

In a further step, it is planned to vaccinate the staff at integrated secondary schools, high schools, high school centers and vocational schools.

When this will be the case depends on the available vaccination capacities.

The vaccinations are voluntary.

Senator Scheeres emphasized: “A vaccination is the best protection against the virus.

I appeal to everyone to make use of the vaccination facility. "
