Nuremberg / Munich (dpa / lby) - After the corona-related travel restrictions for Mallorca have been lifted, more planes are again taking off from Munich and Nuremberg airports to the Spanish island.

After a month-long break, the first flight from Nuremberg was fully booked on Friday, said a spokesman for the airport there.

Flights to Mallorca are planned for April again several times a week.

"The passengers fly to Mallorca to hike," said the spokesman.

Some would also take care of their property on the Spanish island or would have to work.

Party tourism is currently not possible there.

At Munich Airport, passengers were able to fly to Mallorca twice a week during the lockdown.

Since the lifting of the restrictions, the airlines have "massively increased" their offer, reported a spokesman for the airport in the state capital.

More than a hundred flights to Mallorca are planned for the Easter holidays.

A week ago, the federal government decided to remove Mallorca and other regions in Spain, Portugal, Denmark and the Bahamas in the Caribbean from the list of corona risk areas and to lift the travel warning issued by the Federal Foreign Office.

Since Sunday, holidays on the holiday island have been possible again without quarantine and mandatory testing upon return.

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has already suggested reintroducing the mandatory test for returnees nationwide.

In Bavaria, on the other hand, hotels have been closed for months, and holiday apartments are also not allowed to be rented out.
