Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The SPD opposition leader in the NRW state parliament, Thomas Kutschaty, has accused the black and yellow state government of "flying blind" due to the corona pandemic.

Most schools have not yet received the promised corona tests, said the SPD parliamentary group leader on Friday in a special session of the state parliament.

The government is responsible for the uncertainty in schools and still has no testing strategy.

You are currently experiencing "a fight between the state government and the municipalities," said the SPD regional chief with a view to the dispute over school closings in view of the sharp rise in the number of corona infections.

Some municipalities no longer submitted applications for the approval of school closings to the government, but instead sent the students back to distance learning on their own initiative.

"They simply don't care about the state government's view," said Kutschaty.

"The fight against the municipalities must stop."

The municipalities should be given the opportunity to develop local solutions to contain the pandemic.

In the past few days, more and more districts and cities had asked for the possibility of school closings and the return to distance learning.

The government only sees this as a last resort.
