Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony is getting an extra 100,000 vaccine doses from Biotech to combat the corona pandemic in particularly polluted regions.
Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) said this on Friday after the federal and state vaccination summit.
Saxony has urged Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) to organize the vaccine in the European Union.
That helps a lot, especially in regions such as the Vogtland, the Ore Mountains and Zwickau: "We want to vaccinate specifically in these hotspots and try to get the situation under better control there."
In addition to Saxony and Bavaria on the border with the Czech Republic, the Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate because of their border with France and Thuringia, which is affected by high incidences, also receive additional vaccination doses to protect against the entry of mutated coronaviruses from neighboring countries.
Kretschmer also commented on the expansion of the vaccination campaign to include general practitioners.
