Neubiberg (AP) - The chip manufacturer Infineon is ramping up its production in Austin in the US state of Texas.

The company announced on Friday in Neubiberg near Munich that the original quantities should be reached again from June.

Infineon had to shut down the system in mid-February due to a severe winter storm.

"Based on current knowledge, we are assuming that we will not be able to fully meet the needs of our customers due to the event," said CEO Jochen Hanebeck.

To this end, the company is in close contact with the customers concerned.

In Austin, Infineon manufactures and tests products that are used in numerous applications.

Because of the shutdown, the company expects a drop in sales.

These should arise especially in the third quarter (as of June 30) and amount to a high double-digit million euro amount.

However, Infineon is sticking to its sales forecast for the entire fiscal year due to the high demand for microelectronics.
