Hannover (dpa) - The team of the second division soccer club Hannover 96 can start training and matches again with immediate effect.

Because the corona test of the Japanese national player Genki Haraguchi turned out to be false positive, the quarantine measure was lifted for all players, the coaching team and a physiotherapist, announced the club and the Hanover region on Friday evening.

"After intensive investigations by the health department, it is clear that the positive corona test result at 96 professional Genki Haraguchi was incorrect in the past week and there is no longer any reason for quarantine," the message says.

The team should train again on Saturday.

Haraguchi had tested positive for the coronavirus a week ago.

For fear of a further spread of the apparently particularly contagious British variant, which was very often detected in Hanover and the surrounding area, the health department ordered domestic isolation for all 96 professionals with the exception of the currently injured and not training with the team Timo Hübers and Franck Evina at.

The German Football League then canceled the two games against the Würzburger Kickers and Holstein Kiel.

They should be made up on April 8 (against Würzburg) and April 14 (in Kiel).

The next second division game of the eighth table is not scheduled until after the international break on Easter Sunday against Hamburger SV.
