Berlin (dpa / bb) - Half a year before the election to the House of Representatives, the Greens have decided on their plan for a climate-neutral Berlin.

The delegates at an online party congress voted on Friday evening for a zero emission zone: From 2030, no more cars with fossil fuels will drive within the S-Bahn ring, and by 2035 the model should cover the entire city be expanded.

In addition, according to the will of the eco-party, all state-owned buildings should be equipped with solar systems by 2025 and the last coal-fired power plants should be taken off the grid by 2030 at the latest.

The dots are a focus of the green program for the September 26 election.

According to a party spokesman, no majority found applications to implement the zero-emission zone as early as 2025 or to make the city center completely car-free by then, i.e. also to ban electric cars.

Instead, according to the will of the Greens, car-free neighborhoods are to be created all over the city and incentives to be created so that people voluntarily do without their cars.

In addition, the party wants to quickly expand bicycle traffic, buses and trains and, above all, better connect the outskirts.

The tram expansion should have priority, an expansion of the subway should be linked to criteria such as a strong increase in passenger numbers or new transfer options.

According to the party spokesman, the delegates rejected a commitment to certain subway lines as well as an application to stop the expansion of the subway in principle.
