Cottbus (dpa / bb) - A 38-year-old has been sentenced to six years and six months in prison by the Cottbus regional court for attempted murder of his partner.

The court saw it as proven that the defendant wanted to kill the woman, as court spokeswoman Susanne Becker said on Wednesday (Az .: 21 Ks 8/20).

The motive for the act in June 2020 in Großräschen (Oberspreewald-Lausitz) was, according to the indictment, that the partner wanted to move with their child.

The public prosecutor's office demanded eight years imprisonment for attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm.

The 38-year-old is said to have stabbed with a knife suddenly and completely unexpectedly when the woman was carrying the three-year-old child in her arms.

According to the court, the mother was seriously injured as a result.

The defense had pleaded for dangerous bodily harm and a five-year prison sentence, from their point of view, the man had voluntarily let go of his victim.

The victim's lawyer pleaded for life imprisonment.

According to the court, the man is now being placed in a rehab facility, he is addicted to alcohol and drugs.
