Bonn (dpa / lnw) - After an almost fatal dispute between two brothers in Troisdorf, a 26-year-old has been answerable to the Bonn district court for attempted manslaughter since Thursday.

He is said to have rammed a butcher's knife in the stomach of his 27-year-old brother last September.

According to the indictment, the two Germans had previously been out with friends and had been drinking and using drugs.

Finally, there is said to have been a quarrel between the brothers in the defendant's home.

In the course of this, the younger one is said to have fetched the knife from the kitchen and stabbed it.

The defendant admitted the act on the first day of the trial.

His brother has become increasingly violent - the knife "somehow" landed in his stomach.

“I didn't mean to hurt my brother.

I love him too much for that, ”said the 26-year-old.

The older brother was critically injured and had to undergo emergency surgery.

The defendant initially fled the scene, but soon turned himself in to the police.

A blood sample showed an alcohol content of 2.4 per mille.

Four days of negotiation are scheduled for the process.
