Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Because the Autobahn 7 north of the Elbe Tunnel is to be widened from six to eight lanes and "covered", it will be fully closed for several days from this evening (10 p.m.).

Traffic in the direction of Flensburg / Kiel and Heide as well as Hanover is directly affected by the closure.

The traffic is diverted.

The federal project company Deges wants to completely block the motorway between Hamburg-Volkspark and -Waltershof until Monday morning (5 a.m.).

According to the planners, there is likely to be considerable traffic disruption and greater traffic chaos.

They therefore recommend driving around a long distance or, if possible, leaving the car at a standstill.

For the construction of the Altona noise protection tunnel, three important road bridges over the motorway have to be demolished.

During the 79-hour closure, only the structure for one lane direction is to be demolished.

On the remaining half of the bridge, the east-west traffic on the motorway is to continue, even if only in one lane in each direction.
