Alttrebbin (dpa / bb) - The Karlsruhe energy supplier EnBW is building two further large-scale photovoltaic projects in Brandenburg in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland.

The company announced on Thursday that an output of 150 megawatts (MW) is planned in each case.

They are only 40 kilometers apart: on 125 hectares each in the towns of Alttrebbin and in Gottesgabe.

One year of construction is expected.

The approximately 700,000 solar modules in both parks can theoretically supply around 90,000 households with renewable electricity.

According to the company, around 200,000 tons of carbon dioxide will then be avoided each year.

Both subsidy-free solar parks in Alttrebbin and Gottesgabe would not burden consumers with the EEG surcharge, said Thorsten Jörß, Head of Project Development Photovoltaics at EnBW.

The company already operates what is currently the largest German solar park near Werneuchen in Weesow-Willmersdorf.

Around 465,000 solar modules are to produce electricity there for around 50,000 households and thus avoid around 129,000 tons of CO2 annually.
