Before the appearance of the English variant, Norway was a model.

The country had been able to impose semi-containment and the closure of its borders to limit the spread of the epidemic.

Until mid-November, there were "only" 300 dead.

But since then, the counters have gone wild.

In just four months, the death toll has more than doubled.

And the Minister of Health deplored, Wednesday, March 17, 1,156 new contaminations in 24 hours, a record.

No doubt about the responsible: 72% are due to the English variant.

The bulk of the cases being concentrated in Oslo and in the neighboring county of Viken, the government has taken measures which only concern this region, such as the closure of shops, bars, and part of schools, but also of gymnasiums. , swimming pools, libraries and places of worship.

It is also recommended not to receive anyone at home, and to work at home.

The only consolation for the Norwegians: they will still be able to go on vacation at Easter and practice their national sport in the ski resorts which remain open.
