"The State Department reiterates the warning that any organization that is involved in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline risks US sanctions and must immediately stop working on the pipeline," Blinken said in a statement to RIA Novosti.
He noted that the State Department is monitoring efforts to complete the construction of the gas pipeline.
Earlier, Blinken said that the United States is considering the possibility of applying additional unilateral sanctions against participants in the Nord Stream 2 project.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline a trap for countries across Europe.
