“The impression is that with such a document the American special services simply want to justify their existence and the colossal budgets allocated for their work,” she said on the air of “Russia 24”.

Zakharova recalled that for several years, from year to year, the American intelligence community “repeats the same thing”: that it is concerned about the possibility of interference, it has stated that there is interference or that it is supposedly planned.

"For the money that the American taxpayer pays, they should have said long ago:" Americans, sleep well, we are safely guarding you "... therefore, this report is not accepted, because this is another portion of lies, misinformation, fakes", - said the diplomat.

She added that it is time for the American side to come up with something more interesting and fresher, more realistic.

On March 16, the office of the US Director of National Intelligence released a report in which the US intelligence community concludes that Russia "carried out intervention operations" in the 2020 US presidential election.

In particular, the document claims that the Russian authorities allegedly ordered "operations to influence the presidential elections" to discredit Joe Biden and the Democratic Party.

At the same time, the United States said that they did not see "Russia's attempts to penetrate the infrastructure of the elections."

The Kremlin called the document baseless and unsubstantiated.
