Will the planet Earth split soon? .. Here is the truth

A number of social media users circulated news of an imminent collision between an asteroid called "2001 FO32" with the planet, and as a result of this collision the planet will be divided into two halves, but in fact the news of the alleged collision is nothing but a "rumor."

The US space agency "NASA", to which some attributed the false news, said that the asteroid "2001 FO32", with a diameter of nearly a kilometer, will be at the lowest distance to Earth next Sunday, March 21, 2021, but it did not say that this asteroid is heading directly towards the Earth or that it will divide a planet. Mankind into two halves.

"Space", concerned with space news, quoted NASA as confirming that there is no threat of collision with our planet now or for centuries to come. "

The site indicated that astronomers will get a valuable opportunity to observe the asteroid as it passes 1.25 million miles (2 million kilometers) from the planet, according to what was announced by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of "NASA".

"We know the orbital path of asteroid 2001 FO32 very accurately, as it was discovered 20 years ago and has been tracked since then," NASA said in its statement.

The director of the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS), Paul Chodas, stressed that there is no chance that the asteroid will approach Earth more than 1.25 million miles.

It is noteworthy that the asteroid "2001 FO32", which is estimated to have a width of 1,300 feet to 2,230 feet (440 to 680 meters), will approach Earth at a speed of 77,000 miles per hour (12,400 kilometers per hour), which is faster than most asteroids that pass near Earth.

According to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, this unusual speed is due to its extremely long orbit and extremely tilted around the sun.

When rocks approach the solar system, they gain speed before returning to deep space, and they rotate once every 810 days.
