  • The Chantilly estate, in the Oise, is in great financial difficulty because of the coronavirus crisis.

  • In a leaflet for the regional elections, the National Rally implicates the President of the Republic and that of the Hauts-de-France region.

  • The management of the Estate denounces an “instrumentalisation” of its situation for political ends.

No politics, little controversy.

In a press release published on Wednesday, the management of the Domaine de Chantilly, in the Oise, denounced the "political instrumentalisation" of its financial situation by the National Rally (RN) as part of its campaign for regional elections in the Hauts-de-France.

The object of the discord is a leaflet distributed by the supporters of Sébastien Chenu, candidate of the RN in the regional elections in Hauts-de-France.

On this political document, the RN calls "to sign a petition to support the Domaine de Chantilly and implicating the President of the Republic and the President of the Hauts-de-France region", affirms the management of the Chantilly estate.

The State and the region to the aid of the Estate

It is true that the financial health of the monument is not at its best and the Domaine does not hide it.

In mid-December, a campaign to appeal for donations had been launched, "to face the unprecedented crisis" linked to the five months of closure due to the coronavirus epidemic.

The Estate had also approached the President of the Republic.

"The simplest solution is for the State to accompany us during this particular period", asked Christophe Tardieu, the general administrator of the Domaine.

It appears the appeals have been heard by the government.

“The Domaine de Chantilly has been conducting discussions with the State for several weeks to enable us to regain an acceptable level of cash flow.

These negotiations should soon lead to a favorable outcome, ”the statement said.

The management of the Domaine also specifies that “the Hauts-de-France region […] has supported the work of the Domaine de Chantilly for many years.

These subsidies were naturally maintained during the health crisis and are even set to increase.

Therefore, there is no question of letting a regional candidate question Emmanuel Macron and Xavier Bertrand, the latter also being a candidate for his own succession to the presidency of Hauts-de-France.

“The Domaine de Chantilly denounces this attempt at instrumentalisation within the framework of an electoral campaign.
