Suhl (AP) - In the first playoff game in seven years, volleyball Bundesliga club VfB Suhl has against Schweriner SC around Suhl's former coach Felix Koslowski with 3: 2 (28:30, 25:21, 25:17, 28:30, 15: 11) won.

The team of Suhl's coach Laszlo Hollosy, who has coached the VfB team since the beginning of this season and had finished the Bundesliga main round in sixth place, fought tirelessly on Wednesday evening against the huge favorites, who had become cup winners only a few weeks ago and equalized a small deficit at 14:14 in the first set.

Schwerin's trainer Felix Koslowski had caught this ball from VfB middle blocker Blake Mohler before touching the ground with his foot, which resulted in endless discussions, penalty points against VfB, the red card for Hollosy and the temporary banishment of the Suhl trainer to the bench.

Unimpressed by this, the Suhlers kept the sentence open until the end, even if they had to leave the last two points to the opponent.

Almost the same thing happened in the second movement, but now the Suhl women were a bit more determined and equalized.

In the third set they - led by top attacker Danielle Harbin - almost drove their opponents to despair.

In the fourth round, the Suhlers even fought two match points before VfB attacker Agnes Pallag saw the red card and Schwerin took advantage of the resulting advantage.

In the tie-break, VfB led from the start and at 14:11 picked up another match point, which the middle blocker Blake Mohler, who had recovered just in time for the playoffs, transformed.

The second game in the "Best-of-Three" series will follow on Saturday in the Palmberg Arena in Schwerin.
