Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - For the multi-million dollar purchase of the first tranche of self-tests for schoolchildren and state employees, the state uses the Corona rescue package and a police distribution center.

This emerges from a submission by the Ministry of Finance to the Düsseldorf state parliament.

In a first step, 3.3 million self-tests could be secured as part of an urgency award, according to the submission to the budget committee, which was also made known to the health committee at its meeting on Wednesday.

The delivery should take place via the police clothing center, which can receive a maximum of 300,000 tests per day and send them to addresses for a short period of time at maximum capacity.

With six days that would mean a maximum possible delivery of 1.8 million self-tests in one week.

Initially, pupils - without primary schools - should be given self-tests for up to two weeks.

For the procurement of this first tranche of 3.3 million self-tests, based on 4.76 euros per piece of funds from the NRW rescue fund, around 15.7 million euros are required.

In parallel to this first step, an open tendering and awarding procedure is already being prepared and carried out in order to ensure the self-tests for all state employees and for schoolchildren after the Easter break.
