Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The vaccination campaign among the large professional groups of daycare educators, teachers and police officers cannot be continued for the time being due to the vaccination stop at Astrazeneca.
Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) said on Wednesday in the state parliament's health committee.
The vaccine from Biontech is required for the vaccinations of those over 80 who have appointments.
The vaccination campaign for the professional groups had started very well in NRW with up to 45,000 to 50,000 vaccinations per day, explained Laumann.
Had the stop not come, all stocks of the North Rhine-Westphalia central warehouse at Astrazeneca would have been used up by the end of the week.
Laumann assumes that the European Medicines Agency can make a decision on Astrazeneca this week.
