Zwickau (dpa / sn) - In Zwickau, numerous employees from Volkswagen and the supplier Radsystem Mosel stopped work before the end of their shift.

IG Metall called for this on Wednesday in the wage dispute with the Saxon metal and electrical industry.

More than 3,000 employees followed the call at noon, the union said.

At VW, three more shifts should also be on strike during the day.

The group employs around 9500 workers in Zwickau.

"Here on site, it is above all the refusal to adopt the long overdue east-west alignment that is burning under our nails," said Thomas Knabel, Managing Director of IG Metall Zwickau.

The union criticizes that employers have shown no movement in the three rounds of negotiations so far.

That is why the warning strikes that have been going on since the beginning of the month have been intensified this week.

According to IG Metall, the next negotiation date has not yet been set.

The union is demanding, among other things, four percent more money for twelve months, which can optionally be used to secure employment.

The current collective bargaining dispute in Saxony is primarily about around 27,000 employees in companies bound by collective bargaining;

the metal and electrical industry in the Free State has a total of around 190,000 employees.
