Stuttgart (AP) - Handball national player Marcel Schiller has praised national coach Alfred Gislason in the highest tones.

“Nothing better can happen to the German national handball team than Alfred Gislason,” said the 29-year-old left winger from Frisch Auf Göppingen in an interview with the online portal “Spox” (Wednesday).

Last weekend, Schiller and the national team under Gislason made the qualification for the Olympic Games in Tokyo perfect.

"This man exudes such self-confidence, he has so much experience and won so many titles, formed so many world-class players that he makes you feel extremely good as a player," said Schiller: "You feel safe when you know that Alfred is on the sidelines. "

The Icelander Gislason had received a threatening letter with racist content, from which he published excerpts on his Instagram account on Tuesday.

"We are all German and would also like a German coach for the handball team," it says, among other things.
