Berlin (dpa / bb) - In view of the vaccination stop for Astrazeneca, Berlin daycare educators and some of the teachers can now be vaccinated against corona with other vaccines.

This emerges from a letter from Education Senator Sandra Scheeres (SPD) to the daycare providers.

Accordingly, after the temporary closure of the vaccination centers in Tegel and Tempelhof, those invited to vaccinate can now make an appointment at another vaccination center to receive the vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer or Moderna.

According to the education administration, the regulation also applies to staff at special needs schools who have already received vaccination invitations.

Elementary school teachers would then be invited next, it said.

The corresponding letters were just being made ready for dispatch.

The vaccinations with Astrazeneca were suspended nationwide on Monday as a precaution.

According to the Federal Ministry of Health, eight cases of thrombosis (blood clots) in the cerebral veins in the cerebral veins had been reported nationwide by Tuesday evening, related to the vaccination.

The number of cases is statistically higher than in the population without vaccination.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is expected to issue a recommendation on the safety of the vaccine on Thursday.

It is currently being investigated whether there is a causal relationship between vaccination and thrombosis.
