"The US Department of Commerce will expand restrictions on exports to Russia," the statement said.
New trade restrictions on Russia will take effect on March 18.
"The Department of Commerce seeks to prevent Russia from accessing American technologies that could be used for its malicious activities in the field of chemical weapons," the department added.
