Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The volleyball players from SSC Palmberg Schwerin have to fear for a place in the semi-finals of the German championship.

On Wednesday evening, coach Felix Koslowski's team lost 2: 3 (30:28, 21:25, 17:25, 30:28, 11:15) in the first playoff quarter-finals at VfB Suhl Lotto Thuringia after around 135 minutes of playing time.

This means that the cup winner has to win the second clash on Saturday (4.30 p.m.) in his own hall in order to force a third playoff on Sunday in Schwerin.

In the hard-fought first round, Schwerin had given a clear lead twice and after three set balls were awarded twice before the 0: 1 deficit.

The guests finally use the fourth chance at 30:28.

But then Suhl became increasingly stronger and came to clear set successes.

In the fourth round, the SSC was able to avert the impending defeat and prevail again with 30:28, but in the tie-break VfB used the first match point.
