March 17, 2021On the recovery front "we dream of the United States data, but even in this pandemic year, Italian manufacturing has proved to be a great asset, a great asset of the country. This is what we ask of the new government: take a few measures, do them right, because you have the Ferrari of the world industry in your hands, we can restart the country together ", says the president of Confindustria, Carlo Bonomi, guest of" Porta a Porta ".

"It will be difficult, we must all work together, but the Italian industry is there and is showing it even at this moment", he underlines.

Bonomi notes that "the availability of vaccines is becoming a very important geopolitical issue" like "nuclear warheads".

And he warns: "Unfortunately, Europe has made wrong choices, wrong contracts, so much so that President Draghi at the European Council was rightly very critical of some managements. This puts us in difficulty because many countries will emerge from the pandemic crisis first and therefore will be able to restart their economies ".

In the first "hard lockdown, the country understood" but "the subsequent measures did not give direction to the country", warns Bonomi: today "it is important to speak directly to the country, to make it clear which direction is the sacrifice that unfortunately must be asked ".

"We have to give answers".

"The most difficult part right now, as president of Confindustria - adds the industrial leader - is listening to the people, the associates, the entrepreneurs, the stories of families, they are closing shops with a hundred years of history. tourism and culture are strongly affected. Refreshments are not enough. They can help, of course. We can improve them, because a thousand euros are not enough ".

"We must give this country a direction and a future".

Waiting for the implementing decrees nullifies reforms

"The proposal could be that when you make the rules there is an obligation for an immediate implementation decree, otherwise the rule will not come into force".

The president of Confindustria underlines this by identifying a bottleneck in waiting for the implementing decrees that slows down the reforms.

As for the rules on simplifications and for the so-called unblocking sites.

Bonomi underlines this in "Porta a Porta", in dialogue with Minister Enrico Giovannini.

"I think about my experience. Only in the last few years have we passed from the simplifications decree to the unblocking-construction site decree ... We are still waiting for the implementing decrees", says the industrial leader: "Every time I hear about simplifications in Italy, they come to me the chills because, on the other hand, we still stratify commitments for businesses ".

Carlo Bonomi still turns to Minister Giovannini, mentions the need for an overall reform of the Public Administration, and warns: "I shared the minister's words when he said 'we must unload on the ground'. All the billions that arrive must arrive at the construction sites . Otherwise we are talking about billions, we are talking about reforms, but then the construction sites do not work: one in three is open, it means that two out of three are closed. Instead we need a strong push and we know that infrastructures are a strong driver of the recovery economic and are a heritage for the country ".
