Potsdam (dpa / bb) - According to the association, the topic of hope is playing less and less of a role in the talks in Brandenburg's hotel and restaurant business.

"Thousands of businesses don't know how to pay rents and other liabilities," said Olaf Schöpe, President of the Brandenburg Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA), on Wednesday in a technical discussion by the Economic Committee in the Brandenburg State Parliament.

100,000 employees in the industry want a future for their lives, he emphasized.

"I can understand the anger and desperation of the companies", said the left-wing member of the state parliament Andreas Büttner.

At the request of his group, the technical discussion on the situation was scheduled.

According to a survey by TMB Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg GmbH, in which 1,300 companies took part, two thirds of them describe their current business situation as poor.

A third then changed and adapted the offers.

"But that's not enough to survive," said TMB managing director Dieter Hütte.

"Sleeping to-go is just not possible," he said.

"The earlier we open, the better we can manage the crisis," he emphasized.

Without the summer business, many companies would see no future for their business.

The managing director of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association Dehoga Brandenburg, Olaf Lücke, emphasized that it is not enough to rely on mobility restrictions and the hope that the virus will disappear when temperatures rise.
