Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The Hamburg Towers have consolidated their playoff position in the basketball league.

On Wednesday evening, the team of coach Pedro Calles prevailed in the edel-optics.de-Arena against the Löwen Braunschweig with 84:81 (75:75; 38:43) and celebrated the twelfth after a game that was believed to be almost lost Win of the season.

Kameron Taylor (20 points) was the best Towers thrower.

Both teams face each other again on Saturday.

Then in Braunschweig.

The hosts were already ten points behind in the middle of the final quarter, but thanks to a lay-up from Maik Kotsar, they made it 75:75 with twelve seconds before the end and thus forced extra time.

In this, too, the Towers had to run behind a deficit, but then showed strong nerves in free throws.

In the hard-fought encounter, the Calles team got off to a bad start and was already 10:20 behind in the first quarter.

Against the well-adjusted guests, the Hanseatic League could hardly ever achieve a good throwing position, but had problems for their part in preventing the Braunschweig offensive actions.

In the end, there was also a three-throw quota of a moderate 24 percent (7/29), which almost became the doom of the Towers.
