Potsdam (AP) - Turbine Potsdam has confidently done its duty against newly promoted Meppen in the women's soccer Bundesliga.

In a catch-up game on matchday 13, the fourth-placed team won 4: 1 (3: 1) in front of empty stands in the Karl Liebknecht Stadium.

With 29 points now, the Potsdam women have shortened the gap to third place, which entitles them to participate in the Champions League, to five points.

Compared to the win against Sand (5: 2), Turbine coach Sofian Chahed made six changes in the starting line-up after two English weeks.

Due to the strong rotation in the team, Potsdam initially found it difficult to get into the game.

Vivien Endemann punished a mistake by defense chief Merle Barth with the Meppen lead goal (11th minute).

Turbine caught up relatively quickly after falling behind.

Also thanks to Dina Orschmann, who turned the game with two hits.

First a deflected shot landed as an arc lamp in the Meppenern goal (23rd).

Seven minutes later, Orschmann used a cross from Selina Cerci from close range with his head to the turbine lead (30th), which Luca Graf expanded to 3-1 before the break (33rd).

After the change of sides, Turbine managed the lead confidently from a safe defensive position.

In stoppage time, the substitute Adrijana Mori scored to make it 4-1 (90th + 2).

Shortly before, Potsdam goalkeeper Zala Mersnik had fished a foul penalty caused by Sara Holmgaard from the lower corner (90th).

After three home games within eight days, the turbines are now going to the Black Forest twice.

The quarter-finals of the DFB Cup at SC Freiburg will take place on Sunday (1 p.m.).

A week later, the Potsdam women appear in the league at SC.
