Hamburg (dpa) - The second round of collective bargaining between the food-enjoyment-restaurants union and the employers of the German meat industry was postponed on Tuesday in Hamburg without result.

According to information from the union, however, the employers submitted an initial offer that provides for a minimum wage of 10 euros from July 1.

The deputy chairman of the union, Freddy Adjan, described the offer as “completely out of the question”.

«The employers want to cement the low wages in the meat industry for years.

The industry never gets out of the dirty corner, ”he explained.

The NGG entered the talks with the demand for a three-tier minimum wage agreement for the 160,000 employees in the industry.

The minimum wage should therefore start at 12.50.

After a short training period, it should increase to 14 euros per hour, skilled workers should receive 17 euros per hour.

These collective agreements should be declared generally binding by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and would then also be valid if the employer is not bound by collective agreements.

Collective bargaining is expected to resume on March 29th.
