People who are to be vaccinated at Parken Zoo in Eskilstuna today, March 16, will receive a vaccine from Pfizer instead, the region announces.

The health centers will also be able to continue vaccinating as usual.

However, some people who have booked time in vaccination rooms will have their times canceled.

Precaution

The reason why Astra Zeneca's vaccine is stopped is that a few people in other countries got blood clots after receiving the syringe.

There is as yet no evidence that it is related, but vaccination has been stopped as a precautionary measure.

- I can understand that you as an individual can be worried after today's announcement but want to point out that the stop is a precautionary measure and the existing studies do not show any connection with the suspected side effects, says Magnus Johansson, head of the medicine division and responsible for the vaccination program in Region Sörmland in a press release.

Not the first time

This is not the first time that Astra Zeneca's vaccine has been stopped in Sörmland.

On February 12, SVT Nyheter Sörmland revealed that about a hundred hospital employees in the region had side effects from the vaccine, which was unexpectedly many.

This led to the region deciding to stop it temporarily.

However, it began to be used again after a couple of days, when the Medical Products Agency gave the go-ahead for continued use.
