Erfurt (dpa / th) - In the stagnant collective bargaining round for the metal and electrical industry in Thuringia, IG Metall threatens with further warning strikes.

"As long as there is no movement, we react with warning strikes," said the first representative of IG Metall Erfurt, Ilko Vehlow, on Tuesday.

The warning strikes in the wage dispute in the metal and electrical industry are in their third week.

In Thuringia, there is a collective agreement for around 20,000 employees.

According to Vehlow, around 500 employees of the MDC Power GmbH engine plant in Kölleda expressed their displeasure with the stalling negotiations in the metal and electrical industry on Tuesday.

At Jenoptik in Triptis, around 30 employees have left the company for a so-called “combative lunch break”.

The unbroken willingness to go on a warning strike shows that the employees are behind the demands of the union.

The union is demanding four percent more wages for around 3.8 million employees nationwide - where things are going badly in a company, in the form of wage compensation with working hours reduced to four days.

So far, employers have promised wage increases for 2022 at the earliest and want automatic deviations from the wage level for weaker companies.

She described the warning strikes as "unnecessary and superfluous".
