Golf superstar Tiger Woods, who is treating serious injuries to his right leg in a car accident last month, has signed a partnership with 2K Games to mark his comeback in video games.

The two parties have agreed to a long-term exclusive partnership and 2K Games has announced that it has also acquired HB Studios, which designed the game "PGA Tour 2K21", the latest version of the video game series.

“I can't wait to make my return to the video game landscape, and with 2K and HB Studios, I've found the right partners to make this happen,” Woods said in a statement.

“I am honored to be a part of this opportunity and look forward to sharing my expertise and ideas as we build the future of golf video games together,” he added.

The winner of 15 Major tournaments has long been the essential face of golf in the world of video games, since he was linked, for 15 years until 2013, to the company Electronic Arts for the series "Tiger Woods PGA Tour" .

A fruitful partnership since the sale of the different versions of the game brought in 771 million dollars, according to the market research company NPD Group.

This time, the co-record holder for North American Tour titles, tied 82 with Sam Snead, will serve as executive director and consultant to the "PGA Tour 2K" series to which he will cede the exclusive rights to use of name and image.

As such, seeing Woods put balls on a green again may therefore be done virtually at first, while he is recovering from his accident on February 23 near Los Angeles.

Victim of multiple fractures to the right leg, a veil of uncertainty covers the rest of his career.
