CSU boss Markus Söder has rejected demands for the replacement of Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) because of the vaccination and test debacle - but without giving him full support.

“That would not help now, because in the short time there is no one with the experience of Jens Spahn can get involved.

There is no point in changing now, we just have to get better.

Communication needs to become clearer, ”he said.

Spahn cannot help the fact that AstraZeneca announced delivery cuts over the weekend and that the vaccinations with the preparation were suspended today.

But: "These are all bad news, of course, they don't strengthen trust."

Söder has also spoken out in favor of several measures to bridge the period of vaccine shortage up to larger delivery quantities.

The period between the first and second vaccination should be stretched further, suggested the Bavarian Prime Minister on Monday evening in the ARD.

"Second, involve the doctors at an early stage, possibly starting in the hotspots," he continued.

Thirdly, “the vaccination bureaucracy” should be significantly streamlined.

"It also takes too much time to vaccinate as quickly and as much as possible in the rather rigid vaccination sequence that we now have," explained Söder.

There needs to be more freedom.

"Then I think we could take one more step forward until, hopefully, more vaccine comes in April."

He does not think that the vaccinations with the preparation from AstraZeneca were generally suspended.

After examining the incidents related to it, many groups could still be vaccinated, said Söder.

He knows many who would immediately get vaccinated with it.

"I would stand up immediately," said Söder.
