During the week, the Norrbotten Region would have vaccinated 3,800 people with Astra Zeneca's vaccine.

But today, the Swedish Public Health Agency announced that all vaccination with Astra Zeneca's vaccine against covid-19 will be suspended until the European Medicines Agency's investigation into suspected side effects is completed.

"You do not have to do anything yourself"

Now the people who cannot be vaccinated with Astra Zeneca's vaccine will be contacted by the Norrbotten Region.

- We will book those who are affected to be vaccinated with a vaccine of another kind.

You who are to be vaccinated do not have to do anything yourself, we have control and contact you as soon as we can, says Pia Näsvall, chief physician and vaccination coordinator in the Norrbotten Region in a press release.

Blood clots are investigated

The suspected side effects that are now being investigated are blood clots in combination with low levels of platelets in a few people.

In Sweden, no such case has been reported so far.
