Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Due to the stop of the vaccine from Astrazeneca, booking of vaccination appointments in the southwest up to and including next Monday will be suspended.

Health Minister Manne Lucha (Greens) said in Stuttgart on Tuesday that appointments could not be made online or by telephone in the vaccination centers.

This is necessary in order to work off the waiting list with people over 80 and over 65 from professional groups from the first priority.

That now has absolute priority, said Lucha.

"We will now use the greatly reduced amounts of vaccine to give priority to the particularly vulnerable people from the first priority."

The stop of Astrazeneca slows down the vaccination campaign significantly.

Together with the vaccination centers, an attempt should be made to keep as many appointments as possible by direct rebooking to the other two vaccines from Biontech / Pfizer and Moderna.

Due to the suspension of Astrazeneca, large quantities of vaccine will now be discontinued.

Most recently, the country had administered around 15,000 vaccinations a day with the vaccine.
