Berlin (dpa) - The Berlin Volleys were able to prevail in the playoff quarter-finals of the volleyball Bundesliga after two out of a maximum of three games.

Against the Brandenburg rival Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee, the Bundesliga third won on Tuesday in the empty Max-Schmeling-Halle with 3: 0 (25:22, 25:14, 25:21).

The capital club had already won the first leg six days ago in Bestensee 3-0.

This is the end of the season for Netzhoppers.

The BR Volleys now meet in the semifinals on the second in the main round, SWD powervolleys Düren.

The first game of the series best-of-three will take place on Saturday with the Rhinelander.

The Netzhoppers competed in Berlin with a weakened replacement.

The injured regulars Byron Keturakis were missing in the pass and James Weir in the middle block.

Nevertheless, the team was quite stable in the first round, at least in defense.

However, their block usually found no means against the mighty Benjamin Patch on the other side of the network.

The BR Volleys, for their part, acted under high pressure in service.

In the second set, when central blocker Anton Brehme served, they succeeded in a series with 8: 0 points for a decisive 18: 9 lead.

In the period that followed, Berliners found themselves unable to concentrate.

The Netzhoppers even sniffed at winning the set for a short time when they had equalized a 3: 8 deficit at 15:15.

But the volleys reacted in a clear manner and settled down again at 20:16 during Sergej Grankin's service.
