Cologne (dpa) - TV presenter Thore Schölermann has been exposed as a so-called monstronaut in the ProSieben show "The Masked Singer".

The 36-year-old - known for example from the casting show "The Voice of Germany" and the magazine "taff" - peeled himself out of the 20 kilogram costume on Tuesday evening, heavily sweaty.

Previously, he had received too few votes from the audience.

"It's so okay to go now," said Schölermann about the audience's vote.

"I had such a guilty conscience that I had come so far against such good people," he said.

A little later, the moderator, who had not always hit every note, announced: "I am hereby officially ending my music career."

The monstronaut had acted extremely cheeky and mischievous in the singing show.

The idea behind the costume came from previous seasons of the show.

According to legend, the monstronaut was the son of the little monster and the astronaut - both characters had appeared in previous editions of the music puzzle show.

The strange liaison could be read as a reference to Schölermann - he once played in the series "Forbidden Love".

The advice team therefore had the right nose.

Schölermann's name was already a hot tip for the bizarre creature with its long plush arms.

The moderators Ruth Moschner (44) and Katrin Bauerfeind (38) gave correct tips.

Bauerfeind referred to "the whole posture".

She is "relatively sure" about that.

Rea Garvey (47) also had Schölermann in mind, but then boldly guessed moderator Joko Winterscheidt (42).

In “The Masked Singer”, well-known people sing under elaborate costumes and try to disguise their true identity.

The monstronaut failed shortly before the final.

On Tuesday's show, pop singer Guildo Horn (58) was also revealed as a bull.

As it turned out, the entertainer always wore the clearest indication of his true identity on his head during his appearances.

There were two massive horns - apparently an allusion to the name horn.

The name of the pop singer, who had achieved seventh place for Germany at the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson in 1998 with his song “Guildo hat euch lieb”, had been considered a hot tip for the muscular animal even before it was exposed.
