SERIELAND RECO - "Sky Rojo", the new series from the Spanish creators of "La Casa de Papel" is coming to Netflix.

She tells the story of the flight of three prostitutes who try to escape their pimp ... How are the Iberian series exported?

What do these series say about Spanish society?

To answer these questions and understand the rise of Iberian series, Eva Roque welcomes Hugo Florent, journalist at "Courrier International" and Monica Galer, director of Mediawan Studios España.

Elite, Patria, White Lines ..

.

There are more and more Spanish series on our screens.

And since the success of

La Casa de Papel,

this series which tells of an extraordinary robbery, Iberian creations are exported more and more.

Proof of the dynamism of Spanish productions, Netflix has even developed its first European studios in Tres Cantos, a town on the outskirts of Madrid.

Is there a Spanish know-how in the field of series?

How did the production of Iberian series develop?

Why is the Spanish series market so promising?

In SERIELAND, Eva Roque tries to answer these questions alongside Hugo Florent, journalist at

Courrier International

and Monica Galer, director of Mediawan Studios España, which produces among others the Hache and La Valla series.

Recce of the week:

Sky Rojo

Sky Rojo

tells the story of the flight of three prostitutes from Cuba, Argentina and Spain who have just violently beaten their pimp Romeo.

Gina, Coral and Wendy will do everything to try to escape his control ...

After the immense success of

La Casa de Papel

,

but also

White Lines

, the new creation of Alex Pina and Esther Martinez was eagerly awaited.

Unlike La Casa de Papel centered on bank robbers, Sky Rojo plunges into the violent and sulphurous environment of prostitution.

It's a very rhythmic, colorful, and just as violent series.

We can also underline the quality of the interpretation and the dialogues.

The series takes a unique look at Spanish society and the place of women.

1 season, 8 episodes of 25 minutes, to watch on Netflix from March 19.

The backstage chronicle:

Un Dos Tres

, some scenes have never been broadcast in France

In 2004, teenagers discovered the Spanish sitcom Un, Dos, Tres on M6.

The series depicts the daily life of a group of young people in a dance and dramatic arts school.

But, the French did not discover quite the same series as their Iberian neighbors.

And for good reason, with us, some scenes have been cut ...

130 episodes of 50 minutes, available in French on 6play and on Salto

SERIELAND also recommends: Who Are Who We Are

This is the series by Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, author of the film

Call Me by Your Name

,

nominated for the Oscars in 2017. In We Are Who We Are, we find his favorite themes: adolescence and questions of identity.

The series tells the story of the friendship of two young Americans, Fraser and Caitlin, at a military base in Italy.

Fraser, colored hair, eccentric look and worrying penchant for alcohol, does not go unnoticed ... Delicate, We Are Who We Are aptly addresses the desires and torments of adolescents.

Jack Dylan Grazer's portrayal as Fraser is remarkable.

In the cast, we also find Francesca Scorsese, the daughter of director Martin Scorsese.

The staging is very neat, with a real attention to detail and light.

A success !

1 season, 8 episodes of approximately 1 hour to discover on Starzplay

The guest: Monica Galer

Monica Galer heads Mediawan Studios España, the Spanish branch of the European audiovisual giant.

They produce among others La Valla, Hache, La Templanza, Ines Del Alma Mia.

Hugo Florent's crush:

Wandavision

This is the Marvel series from Disney +.

She takes us to meet a couple of well-known superheroes from the Marvel Universe: Wanda Maximoff, the Red Witch and the Android Vision.

Both endowed with superpowers, they move into a suburban American lodge and seek to integrate by hiding their gifts from their neighborhood.

Very original in form, each episode of WandaVision is a reference to an American sitcom, like I Love Lucie or My beloved witch.

It plays with the codes of television and traces the evolution of American sitcoms over several decades.

It's a beautiful exercise in style, an unexpected achievement that renews the Marvel universe.

1 season, 9 episodes of about 30 minutes to watch on Disney +
