Union of Egyptians: 10 new labor rights in Saudi Arabia after the abolition of the sponsorship system

Vice President of the General Federation of Egyptians in Saudi Arabia, Adel Hanafi, announced that, starting from Sunday, a system to improve the contractual relationship will be implemented, which will give the worker some rights and advantages, including the abolition of the sponsorship system after more than 72 years.

The worker is also entitled to freedom of movement from one job to another through the “Power” platform within specific controls that take into account the rights of the parties to the contractual relationship. The new establishment submits a request to transfer the services of an expatriate worker, the controls are verified, and then a message is sent to the expatriate worker to acknowledge the desire for Transfer, and after that the approval is notified to both the facility requesting the transfer and the facility from which the worker is transferred, and thus the transfer process takes place as the contract period is calculated from the date of completing the approval process.

Hanafi said, in a statement, that through the implementation of the initiative to improve the contractual relationship, the expatriate worker is entitled to the freedom to travel outside the Kingdom as soon as the employer is notified electronically through the "Absher" platform, during the validity of the work contract with the date of departure and return, as well as for the final exit.

Hanafi concluded, that this initiative aims to improve the contractual relationship and support the attractiveness of the labor market.

He added that it helps in the wages protection system by documenting employment contracts electronically through the "Madad" platform.

It also reduces the problems that may arise between the worker and the employer by solving the problems, if any, electronically through the “wadi” platform, and it limits absconding reports.

According to the vice president of the General Federation of Egyptians in Saudi Arabia, this initiative includes all expatriate workers in private sector establishments, provided that the private professions “the private driver - the guard - the domestic worker - the shepherd” are excluded from this initiative, indicating that these professions will continue according to the followed system Previously unchanged.
