Feldberg (dpa / lsw) - On the Feldberg in the southern Black Forest, the ski season ends before it could even begin due to the corona restrictions.

"Despite the extensive hygiene concepts that have already proven themselves last summer, we weren't allowed to open a single day this winter," said a message from the Feldberg lift network on Monday.

"Even though it was one of the snowiest winters in a long time."

Because of the further extension of the Corona measures, it was therefore decided not to start operating the ski lifts on the Feldberg this season.

The total failure of the season hit the lift network hard economically.

"Without targeted aid from the state and federal government for private and municipal winter sports areas, we will have no options for shaping the future," said the chairman of the lift network, Adrian Probst.

However, the time of lockdown was used to prepare well for the coming season.

"We are therefore looking forward to winter 2021/2022," says Probst.

Last year, the ski slopes in the largest and most important winter sports area in Baden-Württemberg were closed prematurely in the course of the first corona lockdown, thus ending the season.

The lift network had developed extensive hygiene concepts for the current winter season - free of charge.
