Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Saxony-Anhalt no longer uses the Astrazeneca corona vaccine until further notice.

This was announced by the Ministry of Health in Magdeburg on Monday after the Federal Ministry of Health had previously announced that the preparation should initially no longer be used in Germany as a precaution.

Both ministries referred to a corresponding recommendation by the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI).

This was preceded by reports of blood clots in connection with a corona vaccination with the preparation, the Federal Ministry of Health announced on Monday in Berlin.

It was a precautionary step, which was preceded by a corresponding recommendation from the responsible PEI, said a spokesman.

Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) also spoke of a precautionary measure.

"Now it is important to carefully analyze the data situation."

All ambiguities about the vaccine would have to be cleared up “so as not to endanger the willingness to vaccinate in the population”.

If people who have been vaccinated with the Astrazeneca vaccine start to feel increasingly unwell more than four days after vaccination, they should see a doctor immediately.

In Saxony-Anhalt itself no cases with serious side effects are known.
