After the police's infiltrated operation Costa, two men were convicted on Friday for extremely serious drug smuggling and extremely serious drug offenses.

A 40-year-old was sentenced to seven years and ten months in prison and a 58-year-old to six years and ten months in prison.

It is now clear that the verdict will be appealed to the Court of Appeal.

The 40-year-old's lawyer Ivan Fialdini sent in the appeal on Sunday and writes, among other things, that the district court's ruling is incorrect and that the 40-year-old would not have committed the crimes without the infiltrator's influence.

- The defense does not share the assessment made by the district court regarding the police infiltrator's impact on the client and that the client would thus have committed this crime even without the police's participation, says Ivan Fialdini in a written comment to SVT.

- My client is extremely dissatisfied with the verdict and looks forward to a trial in the Court of Appeal.

Still waiting

The 58-year-old's lawyer Thomas Martinson told SVT on Monday that he and his client have not yet decided whether they will appeal.

The verdict can be appealed until April 6, nor has chamber prosecutor Sara Nilsson decided what she will do.

- I will read the verdict thoroughly and think about it.

In that case, it is the question of sanction that is relevant to appeal because I have demanded a longer sentence than what was imposed, she writes in an email to SVT.
