He had been helicoptered to the cantonal hospital in Geneva, Switzerland, in very worrying condition.

He succumbed to his injuries shortly after being taken into care.

A man in his thirties died this weekend after being seriously injured in a sledding accident, which occurred on Saturday afternoon on a black slope in Châtel, in Haute-Savoie.

According to the

Dauphiné Libéré,

the victim, living in Thonon-les-Bains, had come to the ski resort for a trip to the mountains with a friend.

His boyfriend was on skis, he was on snowshoes and sledges.

It was on the way down that the man lost control of his sled, which was impossible to stop.

He then jumped from the aircraft and was dragged to a rocky bar some 40 meters high.

Present not far from the scene of the accident, three ski patrollers from the station came to help him until a team of emergency responders arrived.

The victim, conscious when first aid arrived, went into cardiac arrest when the doctor arrived.

Revived on the spot, the man was then helicoptered to the Geneva hospital by the men of the Chamonix high mountain gendarmerie platoon.
