Munich (dpa / lby) - The loosening of the retail lockdown was short-lived in many Bavarian municipalities.

Due to the increasing numbers of new corona infections, shops can now only open in 15 of the 96 Bavarian districts and cities.

"Bavaria is saying goodbye to retail," said Bernd Ohlmann, spokesman for the Bavarian Trade Association, on Monday.

In Regensburg, Landshut and several other larger cities, the "emergency brake" is now in place with tightened restrictions because the incidence of more than 100 new infections per 10,000 inhabitants was exceeded on three consecutive days.

In 37 districts and municipalities, according to the trade association, the shops are completely closed.

In 44 others, where the incidence values are between 50 and 100, “Click & Meet” is allowed - a shop visit by appointment.

"It's a big hustle and bustle," criticized Ohlmann.

"We have great uncertainty among the dealers and also in the administration."

The only major Bavarian city with more than 100,000 inhabitants in which shops are currently still allowed to open is Ingolstadt.

In Ohlmann's words, shopping with an appointment in advance is a subsidy business for many retailers, as the organizational effort and personnel requirements are high, but not many customers come.

The trade association reiterated its criticism of the restrictions: "We have six million customer contacts a day in the Bavarian food retail sector, and it has been working without any problems for 12 months," said Ohlmann - this includes the online business.
