Göttingen (dpa / lni) - Make art more visible: The Kunsthaus in Göttingen, a museum for contemporary drawings, graphic art, book and poster art as well as photography and new media, is ready.

Today (11.00 a.m.) the exhibition house is to be handed over by the city to the Kunsthaus gGmbH - in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Göttingen Rolf-Georg Köhler and the publisher and museum founding director Gerhard Steidl.

The city received federal funding of 4.5 million euros for the project, plus donations.

An exhibition with drawings and photographs by the New York artist Roni Horn is planned for the opening in spring.

According to the museum, the background was to give visual art more space and presence in the city of Göttingen.

As early as 2008, Steidl and the then Mayor Wolfgang Meyer announced the idea of ​​an art quarter with the Kunsthaus as its center.

Three to four individual or group exhibitions are planned per year.

The Kunsthaus Göttingen has a total exhibition area of ​​500 square meters.
